New update brings enhanced Galaxy AI, smarter personalization, improved device care and stronger privacy controls to more Galaxy devices
NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept. 21, 2026 — Samsung Electronics has begun the official rollout of One UI 9, bringing new Galaxy AI capabilities and an expanded set of personalization, productivity, security and privacy features to more Galaxy devices.
The rollout begins with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra, following the debut of One UI 9 on Samsung’s latest foldable devices — the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.
Samsung says One UI 9 is designed to deliver a more seamless experience across Galaxy form factors while making Galaxy AI more personal, context-aware and useful in everyday situations.
New tools make Galaxy devices more personal
One UI 9 introduces new tools aimed at helping users capture moments, customize the information they receive and manage their devices more easily.
My FanCam automatically tracks a selected person in a recorded video, keeping them centered as the scene changes. The feature can help users create social-ready videos without manually reframing footage.
Samsung says the tool can be useful for capturing moments such as children’s performances, friends dancing or sporting events where users want to keep a particular person in focus.
The update also introduces Generative and Editable Cards in Now Brief, allowing users to customize their daily summaries. Cards covering areas such as health, weather and video can be selected to make daily briefings more relevant to individual users.
Meanwhile, Warranty and Care brings device support tools directly into the Settings menu. Users can check warranty coverage for connected mobile devices, run self-diagnostics, view repair estimates and manage Samsung Care+ or book service appointments.
Galaxy AI gets more context-aware
One UI 9 also expands Galaxy AI features designed to reduce the number of steps required to complete everyday tasks.
Now Nudge can provide context-aware suggestions at relevant moments. When users are making plans through text messages, for example, the feature can surface reservation details or allow a shared location to be saved without requiring them to leave the conversation.
Creative Studio now provides image-generation suggestions linked to upcoming events. Users could, for example, receive a prompt to create a themed image or greeting when a friend’s birthday is approaching.
Samsung has also updated Interpreter with a new Thread View, allowing users to refer back to earlier exchanges during translated conversations. Conversation Mode translation has also been accelerated, while compatible Galaxy Buds can provide faster playback to make conversations feel more continuous.
Scanning and recording get smarter
The update brings improvements to everyday productivity tools.
Document Scan can now digitize difficult materials, including curved book pages and corner-folded papers, with less manual adjustment. Compatible large-screen Galaxy devices also receive optimized viewing, while an improved Finger Eraser is designed to produce cleaner scans.
Voice Recorder now presents summaries in a more structured format, including headings and tables, making recorded information easier to review.
Samsung strengthens privacy and security controls
One UI 9 also expands Samsung’s security and privacy features, giving users more information about potential risks and greater control over their devices.
Security Brief, integrated into Now Brief, provides updates on issues such as malware, apps installed from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions.
Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts by applications to access permissions in the background.
Samsung is also expanding Scam Detection to additional countries and languages, extending protection against potentially fraudulent calls to more Galaxy users in supported markets.
With One UI 9, Samsung is positioning Galaxy AI not simply as a collection of standalone tools but as a more integrated layer across everyday Galaxy experiences — from communication and content creation to device care, productivity and security.
