Naivas Supermarkets has strengthened its retail presence with the official opening of its new branch at Newgate Square in Kamakis, marking another milestone as the retailer celebrates 36 years of serving Kenyan consumers.

The new outlet adds to Naivas’ growing nationwide network of more than 110 stores and underscores the supermarket chain’s strategy of expanding into fast-growing residential and commercial centres across the country.

The Kamakis branch was officially opened on Friday by Naivas Chief Executive Officer Andreas von Paleske in an event attended by Retrak CEO Wambui Mbarire, Kevian Kenya Group Director for Sales and Marketing Polycarp Igathe, suppliers, business partners and customers.

Speaking during the launch, von Paleske said the new outlet reflects the retailer’s commitment to growing alongside Kenyan communities by bringing quality products and affordable prices closer to customers.

“Opening this store during our 36th year is an important milestone in the Naivas journey. It reflects the trust Kenyan families have placed in us over the last three and a half decades and our commitment to continue growing alongside them,” he said.

“Every new Naivas store is more than another location. It is a promise to bring fresh products, quality, choice and value closer to the communities we serve. Kamakis is one of Kenya’s fastest-growing residential and commercial corridors and we are delighted to become part of its everyday life.”

The CEO said the retailer will continue investing in communities across the country to ensure more Kenyan families have convenient access to a modern shopping experience.

The new supermarket has been designed as a one-stop shopping destination, offering customers a wide range of products including fresh fruits and vegetables, a fully stocked butchery, bakery, delicatessen, ready-to-eat meals, groceries, household essentials, electrical appliances, cookware, clothing, baby products, health and beauty items and other lifestyle products.

Naivas said the store has been tailored to meet the needs of different categories of shoppers, including young professionals, families, entrepreneurs, students and residents living within the rapidly expanding Kamakis area.

The retailer also highlighted its online shopping platform, which allows customers to order groceries and household items for delivery to their homes or workplaces, providing greater convenience for busy consumers.

Beyond improving access to retail services, the company said the new outlet is expected to contribute to the local economy by creating employment opportunities and strengthening partnerships with farmers, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers.

Naivas also acknowledged the developers of Newgate Square for investing in modern retail infrastructure, noting that being the first major supermarket to open within the development will help establish the complex as a key shopping destination for residents and businesses.

Founded 36 years ago as a neighbourhood supermarket, Naivas has grown into one of Kenya’s largest retail chains with more than 110 stores spread across the country. The company says its continued expansion is driven by its commitment to offering customers fresh products, quality, wide product choice and affordable prices while remaining close to the communities it serves.
