More than 100 golfers, corporate leaders, business executives and philanthropists came together in Nairobi on Friday for the Golf for a Brighter Future Charity Tournament, raising support for children’s education, school nutrition and essential learning resources in underserved communities across Kenya.

Hosted by the Bridge International Academies Foundation at the Kenya Railway Golf Club, the tournament formed part of the organisation’s #NoChildLeftBehind initiative, which seeks to expand access to quality education and improve learning outcomes for children from underserved communities.

The initiative is based on the Foundation’s belief that quality education extends beyond the classroom. Proper nutrition, access to learning materials and a supportive environment are also essential for children to learn, grow and thrive.

Bridge currently serves more than 22,000 learners across underserved communities in Kenya, with funds and partnerships generated through initiatives such as the charity tournament supporting programmes including school fee subsidies and the provision of learning materials.

Speaking during the tournament’s awarding ceremony, Reuben Mwangi, Group Managing Director of Bridge International Academies Foundation, said the event was about more than golf.

“Golf for a Brighter Future is about much more than a day on the golf course. It is about coming together around something that matters deeply to all of us, the future of our children.”

Mwangi said providing quality education for every child requires collaboration between different sectors of society, adding that the strong turnout demonstrated the importance of partnerships in supporting children’s education.

“Achieving quality education for every child requires partnerships, investment and a collective commitment from different sectors of society. Today’s turnout demonstrates the power of that collaboration, and our commitment remains firmly focused on ensuring more children have the opportunity to learn, thrive and build a better future,” he said.

Bridge Foundation recognised Sanlam Allianz as the corporate partner for the tournament, alongside other sponsors, partners and philanthropists who contributed to the initiative.

Beyond fundraising, the event provided an opportunity for the Foundation to strengthen relationships with corporate partners, sponsors and other stakeholders committed to improving educational outcomes for children across the country.

The Foundation is also implementing its #OneCupOneFuture initiative, which focuses on school nutrition as an important component of children’s health, learning and development.

According to the Foundation, ensuring children have access to nutritious meals can complement investments in education by helping create an environment in which learners are better positioned to concentrate and participate in school activities.

The charity tournament is part of Bridge Foundation’s wider efforts to build partnerships that can expand access to quality education for children in underserved communities.

The organisation said it remains open to working with additional sponsors, donors, corporate partners and philanthropists seeking to support education, nutrition and other interventions aimed at improving children’s welfare.

Through initiatives such as Golf for a Brighter Future, Bridge Foundation hopes to mobilise greater support for its #NoChildLeftBehind campaign and ensure that more children across Kenya have the resources and opportunities they need to learn, thrive and build a better future.
