City journalist and Likuyani parliamentary aspirant Clause Masika has criticized the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Ford Kenya and the Kenya Kwanza administration, accusing them of failing to deliver meaningful development in Likuyani Constituency.

Speaking during a conference in Nairobi, Masika alleged that years of poor leadership, corruption and weak accountability had left residents grappling with inadequate public services despite repeated promises made during election campaigns.

He claimed that the constituency continues to face challenges including poor infrastructure, youth unemployment, inadequate support for education and limited access to quality public services.

Masika also alleged that corruption has affected the management of education bursaries, claiming that funds intended to support needy students have not always reached the intended beneficiaries.

“Education is a constitutional right, not a commodity to be auctioned to the highest bidder. It is heartbreaking that vulnerable children are reportedly missing opportunities to stay in school because resources meant for them are allegedly being diverted. This culture must come to an end,” he said.

The parliamentary hopeful called for transparency in the management of public resources and urged relevant authorities to investigate any allegations of misuse of bursary funds.

He said leadership should be judged by service delivery rather than political loyalty, arguing that residents deserve leaders who prioritize accountability, integrity and development.

“Likuyani has enormous potential, but that potential has been suppressed by poor leadership and misplaced priorities. Our people deserve better roads, better schools, improved healthcare, opportunities for young people and an economy that works for everyone. Leadership must serve the people, not personal interests,” Masika said.

Masika urged residents to hold elected leaders accountable and reject leaders who fail to fulfill their campaign promises. He also encouraged young people to actively participate in governance, saying they have a critical role to play in shaping the constituency’s future.

“The future of Likuyani cannot be built on empty promises. It requires honesty, transparency and leaders who are willing to work for every resident regardless of political affiliation. The people have the power to decide the future of this constituency,” he added.

Concluding his address, Masika said the political dominance of UDA, Ford Kenya and the Kenya Kwanza administration in Likuyani should come to an end, arguing that residents are ready for a new generation of leadership focused on development, equality and public service.

UDA, Ford Kenya and representatives of the Kenya Kwanza administration had not publicly responded to Masika’s allegations at the time of publication.
