TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya has unveiled a new generation of its TotalEnergies Card, introducing digital payment and real-time monitoring features designed to give businesses, fleet operators and motorists greater control over fuel and mobility expenses.
Launched in Nairobi on Thursday, September 10, the new solution combines digital payment options, real-time transaction monitoring, enhanced security and tax-compliant invoicing as businesses increasingly seek better ways to manage operating costs.
TotalEnergies Marketing Kenya Managing Director Thibault Flichy said traditional payment methods were no longer adequate for businesses requiring detailed visibility over fuel expenditure.
“The new generation of the TotalEnergies Card brings payment, monitoring and expense management together on one platform,” he said, noting that the solution is designed to help businesses make better-informed financial and operational decisions.
A key feature of the new system is the introduction of two cardless payment options—the Mobility Pay mobile application and a virtual card.
The virtual card uses one-time passwords and can be used on mobile phones even without an internet connection, giving motorists and businesses greater flexibility when making payments.
Customers will also receive instant SMS and email alerts for transactions and unusual activity, while an upgraded customer portal will provide real-time visibility of accounts and allow users to set transaction limits.
For fleet operators, the system includes a pre-authorisation feature that enables greater control over the amount of fuel dispensed at service stations.
Security has also been strengthened through the use of PINs, RFID vehicle tags and one-time passwords for transactions made through the mobile application and virtual card.
TotalEnergies said the new card will be accepted across its service station network for its range of products and services, providing customers with a single platform to manage mobility-related payments.
The company said businesses and motorists adopting the cardless payment options can reduce their reliance on physical cards while benefiting from the convenience and flexibility of digital transactions.
The latest offering builds on more than 25 years of the TotalEnergies Card in Kenya. Originally launched as the Bon Voyage Fuel Card, the product was the country’s first fuel card and pioneered the use of chip technology to enhance payment security.
Over the years, the card has evolved from a conventional fuel payment solution into a broader mobility management platform, reflecting changes in technology and the growing needs of motorists and businesses.
Customers can apply for the New Generation TotalEnergies Card through the TotalEnergies Kenya website, while matatu and boda boda operators can apply at TotalEnergies service stations across the country.
