Lucky Summer Ward MCA Victor Omondi Ochola, popularly known as Ringo, has made community welfare a key focus of his leadership through initiatives targeting education, infrastructure, security and youth empowerment.
One of his notable initiatives is a school feeding programme launched four years ago after he assumed office as the area MCA. The programme benefits more than 1,000 learners from vulnerable families across all schools in the ward.
Ringo says he personally finances the initiative to ensure children receive meals during the school day.
“I am funding this feeding programme from my own pocket. I ensure the kids get bread and tea and lunch when things are okay for all schools in this ward,” Ringo said.
The initiative seeks to ease the burden on families struggling to meet their children’s basic needs while supporting learners as they pursue their education.
Beyond education support, Ringo has also been championing road rehabilitation to improve accessibility within Lucky Summer. Better roads are important for residents travelling to schools, health facilities, markets and other essential services. They can also support local businesses by making the movement of people and goods easier.
Security is another area of focus, with community engagement and cooperation among residents playing an important role in addressing local concerns and strengthening neighbourhood relations.
The MCA has also been supporting talent development, with efforts aimed at giving young people opportunities to nurture their abilities and participate in constructive activities.
These initiatives reflect a broader focus on addressing everyday challenges affecting residents, from access to essential services to opportunities for young people.
For families with children in local schools, the feeding programme offers additional support at a time when the cost of living continues to put pressure on household budgets. Its continued operation will depend on the availability of resources and effective coordination with schools.
Meanwhile, road rehabilitation and security remain important to residents seeking improved living conditions and safer neighbourhoods.
As Lucky Summer continues to address its development priorities, the initiatives associated with Ringo’s leadership place community welfare, children’s needs and youth opportunities at the centre of the conversation.
