Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary has called on residents of Ol Kalou Constituency to uphold peace, unity and respect for one another as the constituency prepares for the by-election scheduled in 10 days.

Speaking during a campaign stop in the constituency, Miano urged voters to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the campaign period and on polling day, saying peaceful elections are essential for safeguarding democracy and promoting development.

“Let us keep it calm, factual and neighbourly,” she pleaded with residents, urging them to reject violence, hate speech and divisive politics.

Miano said the by-election presents an opportunity for the people of Ol Kalou to elect leadership that will work closely with the national government to accelerate development projects in the constituency.

“Our candidate stands for government partnerships, jobs, roads and efficient service delivery. This election is about choosing progress and ensuring that our people continue benefiting from government programmes,” she said.

She further appealed to residents to ignore what she described as misleading political narratives being advanced by self-centred leaders, saying such messages only serve to divide communities and derail the region’s development agenda.

“We must remain united as a people and focus on issues that improve the lives of our families instead of being distracted by politics of division,” she added.

Miano’s appeal comes as campaigns intensify ahead of the closely contested by-election, where the ruling coalition’s candidate Muchina is set to face off against DCP candidate Sammy Ngotho.

The Ol Kalou parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of former MP .
