Kenyan US-based recording artist King Kanja has officially released his new single Daima Mkenya, an Afro-fusion anthem aimed at celebrating Kenyan identity, culture, and pride.
The track, which dropped on April 24, 2026, at 7:00 AM, is now available on YouTube and all major streaming platforms. The release marks a significant cultural moment, positioning the song as a unifying anthem for Kenyans both at home and in the diaspora.
Daima Mkenya, which translates to “Forever Kenyan,” blends Afro-beats, Afro-pop, and R&B, featuring a mix of Swahili and English lyrics.
The song is accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Steve Mugo and includes vocals from Bwanangoma. Together, they deliver a production that reflects the country’s diversity from the highlands to the coast while appealing to a global audience.
Speaking during the release, King Kanja described the song as more than just music.
“Daima Mkenya is not just a song, it’s a movement. I want every Kenyan, wherever they are in the world, to feel seen, celebrated, and proud,” he said.
Born and raised in Kenya, King Kanja has built an international career that spans multiple continents.
He has previously appeared on BET’s 106 & Park and released the collaborative EP Foreign Exchange with Bobby V in 2023. Over the years, he has shared stages with global stars including Beenie Man, Shaggy, Rick Ross, Akon, and Wyclef Jean. He also performed at the final state event of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The release is part of a broader collaboration with Daima Mkenya Africa, a Nairobi-based fashion label that shares the song’s message of national pride. The partnership seeks to merge music and fashion as tools for expressing Kenyan identity globally.
Under the tagline “Born Here. Worn Everywhere,” the brand produces apparel using 100 percent Kenyan cotton, highlighting local farmers, weavers, and artisans.
Its collections incorporate the national colours black, red, green, and white and traditional beadwork, positioning the label within the country’s growing “Made in Kenya” movement.
The collaboration underscores a shared vision between the artist and the brand: to celebrate Kenyan heritage in ways that resonate across borders while promoting homegrown creativity on the global stage.
