Shekhinah, Sun-El Musician and Kenya’s contemporary music acts headline inaugural outdoor experience at Ngong Racecourse
Nairobi’s daytime entertainment scene gained a new addition over the weekend as the inaugural Peaches & Cream brought live African music, Afro-R&B and soulful Afro-house to Ngong Racecourse & Golf Park.
The event, held on Saturday, blended live performances with an outdoor social experience, taking audiences from afternoon sets into an energetic evening under the Nairobi sky.
South African stars Shekhinah and Sun-El Musician headlined a lineup that also featured Kenyan artists including Nikita Kering, Njerae, Kethan, Bridget Blue, Ochiko, Watendawili, Xenia Manasseh, Bune, IV, Darkfruit, Smolls and Sendat.
The Kenyan contingent showcased the breadth of the country’s contemporary R&B and alternative music scene.
Watendawili delivered a high-energy set, while Xenia Manasseh brought her soulful sound to the stage. Njerae, Bridget Blue, Kethan and Ochiko continued the afternoon performances before the electronic acts shifted the atmosphere towards Afro-house as evening approached.
Surprise collaboration steals the show
One of the afternoon’s standout moments came during Nikita Kering’s performance when she was joined on stage by Gengetone artist Swat Mtoto wa Eunice for a surprise rendition of Lamba Lolo.
The unexpected collaboration sparked a major singalong from the crowd and became one of the event’s most memorable moments.
Later, Shekhinah brought her R&B sound to the Nairobi audience, while Sun-El Musician closed out the headline performances with his distinctive Afro-house and soulful electronic sound.
A different daytime format
Peaches & Cream was created by Crispy Life Events, the team behind Rhythm & Brunch and Millennials Cookout.
Rather than building the event around a single headline performance, the organisers structured it as a progression through the day — beginning with live performances before gradually transitioning into an Afro-house-led evening experience.
Dickson Matata, founder of Crispy Life Events, said the concept was developed to offer Nairobi audiences an alternative to conventional nightlife.
“Peaches & Cream was created because we wanted to give Nairobi a different kind of daytime experience. The response to the first edition has shown us that there is an audience for live African music, great outdoor spaces and experiences that allow people to spend an entire day enjoying music and connecting with each other.”
The debut comes as Nairobi’s entertainment calendar increasingly includes outdoor events that combine music, food, socialising and lifestyle rather than relying solely on traditional late-night formats.
For Crispy Life Events, the inaugural Peaches & Cream marks the launch of a new event property, with the response to the first edition likely to shape its next chapter.
