President William Ruto touched down in Masalani, Ijara subcounty, late Friday morning, setting the stage for a high-profile rollout of flagship development projects across Garissa County.

Arriving at exactly 11:04 am, the Head of State kicked off what officials described as one of the most ambitious government investment drives in the region spanning housing, water access and education upgrades meant to uplift thousands of residents.

Ruto is scheduled to break ground for the Masalani Affordable Housing Project, a plan touted to expand home ownership and create new jobs for local youth. He will also commission the newly completed Masalani water project, a major boost for a community that has long struggled with erratic water supply.

The President’s itinerary further includes a stop at Haji Girls Secondary School, where he will officially open refurbished facilities. The school now boasts a modern dining hall and three newly equipped twin laboratories, upgrades expected to significantly enhance learning conditions for students.

Ruto arrived with a powerful delegation featuring Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga.

ODM leader Oburu Oginga was also present, adding political weight to the occasion.

The event drew several regional leaders, including Governors Nathif Jama (Garissa), Abdulswamad Sharif Nasir (Mombasa), Issa Timamy (Lamu) and Ahmed Abdullahi (Wajir), alongside a sizeable contingent of MPs and senators who turned up to receive the President.

The visit sets the tone for a weekend dominated by development commitments and renewed political activity in the Northern region.
