Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive Officer Harold Ndege has been summoned by the federation’s executive over what has been termed as poor preparation of the national junior teams.
In a letter addressed to Ndege and copied to FKF president Hussein Mohamed, executive committee member Abdalla Yusuf said the federation’s leadership is seeking detailed explanations from the secretariat following deliberations by the Technical and Youth Committee.
Yusuf said the concerns centre on the preparation, selection, logistics and performance of the national Under-15 boys’ and girls’ teams, as well as the Under-17 boys’ side.
As the head of the secretariat, Ndege has been asked to explain why the selection of coaching staff and players was done late, and whether proper technical and tactical preparation plans were developed and implemented.
The executive has also demanded to know the scouting process used in selecting the teams and whether it met the federation’s standards.
Yusuf further questioned the circumstances under which the Under-15 teams reportedly arrived at the match venue just two hours before kick-off, and when the federation was officially notified of Kenya’s participation in the age-group tournament.
He also sought clarification on whether the secretariat made any formal funding or collaboration requests to the Ministries of Sports and Education, and if so, asked that supporting documentation be provided.
Additionally, the FKF executive raised concerns over the poor performance of the Under-17 boys’ team during their recent assignment in Ethiopia, questioning what led to the technical shortcomings and why both coaches and players were named late.
The matter has heightened scrutiny on the federation’s management of youth football, with the executive demanding accountability to safeguard the development of junior national teams.
