Equity Volleyball Club has arrived in Rwanda with clear intent and confidence as they gear up for the 47th African Men’s Volleyball Club Championship, a tournament that draws the continent’s top teams.

The Kenyan side booked their place on the continental stage after finishing third in the national league, earning automatic qualification. Now in Kigali, the focus shifts from domestic success to proving their mettle against Africa’s elite.

“We are looking forward to a highly competitive tournament because it brings together the very best clubs in Africa,” said Team Manager Vincent Onyango, expressing optimism and determination within the camp. “We are ready to put our best foot forward.”

Equity heads into the championship energized by strong league form, including a notable victory over defending champions General Service Unit, a performance the team believes has sharpened their edge ahead of the tougher continental challenge.

Equity Volleyball Club team members depart the country via Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, setting off for their continental assignment.

“Our domestic league gave us a solid foundation,” said team manager Vincent Onyango. “Some of the opponents we faced back home are the same ones we expect to meet here, so that experience gives us confidence going into this tournament.”

The team’s ambitions are firmly set to navigate the preliminary rounds successfully, break into the round of 16, and push all the way to the semi-finals and final.

“After our last appearance at the Club Championship, we return stronger, more focused, and better prepared. We look ahead with determination to deliver a more spirited and impactful performance,” Said Nick Ongeri, Equity Sports Coordinator.

With the pool set to determine the matchups, competition officially gets underway on Wednesday, marking the beginning of what promises to be an intense and high-stakes championship.
