The nominee for the Mombasa County Executive Committee (CEC) in charge of the Department of Blue Economy, Cooperative Agriculture and Livestock Ibrahim Khamis alias Babangida has promised to convene an urgent meeting with stakeholders in the sector.
He said the Blue Economy remains the backbone of the county’s economy and promised to give it a new lease of life.
Babangida sought to put the record straight by pointing out that he had resigned as ODM nominated civic leader to concentrate on his business.
The nominee told the county committee that he had vied for county gubernatorial seat against Hassan Ali Joho who is currently the CS for the Blue Economy docket.
Babangida said he has experience after serving in several state corporations as board chairman.
He promise to bring his wide experience to the docket when he get the county’s nod.
On his part, nominee for Mombasa County Executive Committee (CEC) in charge of Youth, Gender, Sports, and Public Service Administration Jonathan Wepukhulu refuted claims he holds a dual citizenship.
He promised to ensure policy is effectively followed to the letter.
“I will ensure we formulate policy with the county assembly at the ministerial level,” he said.
Wepukhulu promised to ensure acceptability is strictly adhere to.
They spoke when they appeared before the appointment committee under the stewardship of acting chairman Athman Mwamwiri.
The nominee told the committee he will ensure he enhances sports activities within the county.
Wepukhulu assured the session he will come up with policy and sports programs to enhance sports activities in the county.
He said his focus will be policy on women and youths within county.
“I will ensure to put to an end alleged discrimination in recruitment at the county level,” he promised.
The nominee promised to leave a mark of hard work and delivery of excellent service for the one and half year before 2027 general election if he is appointed.
Wepukhulu said he will come up with a framework on policy when his appointment is given the nod by the committee.
