The 2026 Safari 7s tournament culminated in an unforgettable Kenyan sweep at Nyayo National Stadium, where reigning champions Kenya Shujaa delivered a masterclass against a brave Kenya Morans side to retain their crown with a commanding 24–5 victory in front of an electric home atmosphere on Sunday.

Kenya Shujaa 24–5 Kenya Morans (Men’s Final)

The men’s showcase final began with frantic defensive intensity as both sibling sides traded heavy hits. Samwel Asati found himself sent to the sin bin early on, and Shujaa had to scramble desperately when Victor Mola stopped Lucky Onyango from landing a try by forcing him into an unfortunate knock-on.

Brian Mutua also came within inches of opening the scoring, only for a resolute Morans defensive wall to deny him over the whitewash, leaving the scoreboard deadlocked at 0–0 at the break.

The second half, however, belonged to Shujaa’s championship pedigree. Rayvon Ambale unlocked the game, side-stepping his markers to touch down for a well-converted try to make it 7–0, before Victor Mola quickly followed up with another successful try.

Fresh off the bench, Festus Shiasi punched through for Shujaa’s third try, immediately complemented by fellow substitute John Okoth who powered over to extend the lead.

The Morans fought to the final whistle, getting a well-deserved consolation try through Denis Ndayala following excellent buildup work by Harrison Mauve, who outsprinted Patrick Odongo to set up the score.

When the final whistle sounded, it confirmed a comprehensive 24–5 victory for Shujaa, securing the Safari 7s crown in style and capping off a historic weekend for Kenyan rugby at Nyayo Stadium.

Kenya Lionesses 22–5 Uganda (Women’s Final)

The Kenya Lionesses overpowered arch-rivals Uganda 22–5 to claim the 2026 Safari 7s Women’s Cup title. The final lived up to its billing as a fierce East African showdown from the opening whistle, with Maureen Muritu breaking the deadlock for the hosts through a blistering, surging run down the flanks.

Uganda absorbed the early pressure and struck back before the break, crossing the whitewash to level the scores at 5–5 and leave the championship delicately poised at halftime.

Whatever was said in the Lionesses’ hallowed team talk at the interval ignited an irresistible second-half surge. Maureen Muritu struck again shortly after the restart, gliding through the Ugandan defensive line for her second converted try of the evening.

Momentum firmly in hand, Freshia Oduor capitalized on quick phase play to crash over for Kenya’s third try, stretching the scoreline to a commanding 15–5 lead and shifting the physical battle entirely in the hosts’ favor.

Tournament sensation Tracy Montex put the absolute icing on the cake in the closing stages, carving through the exhausted defensive fringe before touching down for a brilliantly converted try. The resulting 22–5 scoreline sealed a dominant tournament campaign for the Lionesses, crowning them undisputed Safari 7s champions in front of a jubilant home crowd.
