Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Imwatok has urged members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to remain united and steadfast ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Nairobi, Imwatok emphasized that party unity was a key vision of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, noting that internal cohesion would be critical to securing electoral victory.

He warned that without firmness and consistency in decision-making, ODM could face challenges competing effectively in the upcoming polls.

Imwatok also highlighted the importance of strategic negotiations with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), calling for both strength and goodwill in political engagements.

“We must remain firm and steadfast in negotiations while demonstrating goodwill, which should not be mistaken for weakness,” he said.

The Majority Leader further called on ODM youth to remain committed and actively participate in advancing the party’s agenda. He noted that young people play a crucial role in mobilizing support and ensuring the party’s long-term success.

“Our youths must take the lead, and we shall support them in achieving this goal. A strong and united party will make our path easier,” he added.

Imwatok also criticized what he termed as disrespect from political opponents, urging the President to address internal issues within his party before engaging in broader political negotiations.

Imwatok is expected to vie for the Busia gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections.
