The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal has dismissed a petition challenging the election of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) delegates in Dagoreti North Constituency, effectively affirming Moses Ogeto as the duly elected ODM Chairman for the area.
The case had been filed by Dagoreti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi, who alleged that the grassroots polls were manipulated to predetermine the outcome. She argued that the party erred in law by declaring winners despite what she termed as irregularities in the electoral process.
In its ruling, the tribunal found that Elachi failed to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate the claims of electoral malpractice, clearing the way for Ogeto’s victory to stand.
Ogeto welcomed the judgment, describing it as a validation of the will of the delegates who took part in the April elections.

“I want to welcome the decision and ask my competitors to now focus on building the party. The delegates woke up and resoundingly voted for me and other leaders. The issues that arose claiming we violated the election rules of our great party have now been put to rest,” he told journalists.
The decision brings to an end the leadership dispute that had threatened to split the party’s local branch, paving the way for ODM to proceed with its grassroots strengthening efforts in Dagoreti North.
