South B Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Waithera Chege has held consultations with President William Ruto on the progress of major development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and livelihoods within South B Ward.
The discussions focused on several flagship initiatives currently underway or planned for the area, including the construction of a modern market, Mariguini Slum upgrading programme, and the Golden Gate Road project, among other priority developments.
According to MCA Chege, the engagement with the Head of State was part of continued efforts to ensure national and county governments remain aligned in delivering transformative projects at the grassroots level.
“These projects are critical to improving the quality of life for residents of South B. My engagement with His Excellency the President is about ensuring timely implementation, accountability, and tangible results for the people,” Chege said.
The proposed modern market is expected to enhance trade, create employment opportunities, and provide a dignified working environment for traders. Meanwhile, the Mariguini Slum upgrading project aims to improve housing conditions, sanitation, and access to essential services, addressing long-standing challenges faced by residents in informal settlements.
The Golden Gate Road project, once completed, is expected to significantly improve mobility, ease traffic congestion, and boost economic activity within the ward and its surrounding areas.
President Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting development initiatives that uplift communities, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between national leadership and local representatives to accelerate service delivery.
Residents of South B have welcomed the consultations, expressing optimism that the projects will be fast-tracked and completed to improve living standards and spur economic growth.
