Korogocho MCA Absalom Odhiambo, popularly known as Matach, has criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for what he termed as tribal political messaging ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a meeting that brought together Central region women leaders at Charter Hall in Nairobi, Matach dismissed Gachagua’s remarks that his Democracy for the Citizen’s Party (DCP) would sweep all the 85 wards and constituencies in the capital, branding the statement as divisive and unconstitutional.

“The Mt. Kenya people are the biggest business operators in Nairobi, most of the houses we rent are theirs. We support each other and that is how we mutually live here,” Matach said. “Taking all seats in Nairobi is not democratic. It should be free and competitive as the constitution stipulates.”
The MCA argued that Nairobi is home to diverse communities and should not be subjected to ethnic zoning or political dominance by any single bloc.
At the same meeting, a section of leaders drawn from the Kikuyu community declared their support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid, saying his administration has pushed development equitably across the country.

The leaders endorsed the “Kumi Bila Break” slogan during the event convened by UDA Nominated MCA Cecilia Wairimu, which was also attended by Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie alongside other city leaders.
