Teso Teso South Member of Parliament Hon. Mary Emaase Otucho has called for urgent government action to address rising unemployment and the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by flooding in parts of her constituency.

Hon. Otucho held a consultative meeting this morning with Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Hon. Moses Ruku, where she emphasized the need for fair and inclusive access to public service job opportunities. She noted that unemployment among young people in Teso South remains a pressing concern that requires deliberate and sustained government intervention.

“We must create pathways for our youth and residents to access dignified employment,” Hon. Otucho said. “As your representative, I remain committed to advocating for opportunities, fairness, and dignity for all residents of Teso South.”

The MP also appealed for the immediate provision of food and other essential supplies to families affected by recent floods, particularly in Odiria and other flood-prone areas. She stressed that many households have been displaced and are in urgent need of government assistance.

Hon. Otucho reaffirmed her commitment to working with both national and county governments to improve livelihoods, enhance service delivery, and support vulnerable communities across Teso South.
