Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Makongeni Ward who doubles up as Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Imwatok, has officially launched the much-anticipated Jateso Stadium in Mbotela Nairobi today.

The event drew large crowds, including local residents, football teams, and sports enthusiasts from across Makadara Constituency, marking a significant milestone in the area’s sports development.

Speaking during the launch, Imwatok popularly known as Jateso described the stadium as a symbol of progress and commitment to public service.
“As I mark my third term representing the people of Makongeni, it is my wish that they continue to enjoy and utilize this facility for sports. Jateso Stadium embodies good leadership, resilience, and true service to the people,” he said.

Residents welcomed the project, praising it as a transformative initiative aimed at empowering youth and nurturing local talent.

Many noted that the facility would provide a much-needed platform for sports development and community engagement.

“This is a proud moment for us as youths and football lovers. The stadium will stand as a lasting mark of his leadership and positively impact our lives,” said Janet Atieno.

Others echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the role of the project in shaping the future of young people in the area.
“It has not been easy, but with Jateso, we have seen that change is possible. This project has rescued a generation whose talent risked going unnoticed,” another resident remarked.

The launch of Jateso Stadium is expected to boost grassroots sports, provide recreational space, and open opportunities for talent growth in Makongeni and the wider Makadara area.
