Lamu-based youth leader cum journalist Jeniffer Waridi has been appointed the National Women League Coordinator of the Ruto Kumi Bila Break Movement in a move seen as a boost to women’s mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a  press statement dated February 20, 2026, National Chairman Idris M. Omar announced the appointment, saying Waridi will serve with immediate effect and join the movement’s National Steering Committee.

“I, Idris M. Omar, the National Chairman of the Ruto Kumi Bila Break Movement, acting under the powers and authority vested in my office, hereby formally appoint Ms. Jeniffer Waridi as the National Women League Coordinator of the Ruto Kumi Bila Break Movement, with immediate effect,” he said.

Omar noted that by virtue of the appointment, Waridi will participate in national strategy formulation, policy direction, mobilization and decision-making processes of the movement.

Waridi, who is the President of the Kenya Youth Organization and an aspirant for the Lamu Woman Representative seat in 2027, hails from Lamu County. Omar said her leadership experience and grassroots networks would strengthen the movement’s national women agenda.

“As National Women League Coordinator, you shall be responsible for coordinating and overseeing women league activities countrywide, mobilizing women in support of the movement and the government’s development agenda, and establishing and supervising county and constituency women league structures,” Omar stated.

He added that the position is one of trust and authority, urging Waridi to uphold integrity, loyalty, discipline and unity, warning that conduct contrary to the movement’s objectives could lead to disciplinary action.

In Lamu, the appointment has been welcomed by a section of residents who described Waridi as a passionate advocate for women and youth empowerment.

“We sincerely appreciate H.E. William Samoei Ruto and the Kumi Bila Break Movement for entrusting our very own Queen from Lamu, Mama Miradi, with this great responsibility,” a resident of Lamu East posted on social media.

Waridi, popularly referred to by supporters as Waridi wa Miradi, has been actively involved in community initiatives focusing on youth skills development and women’s economic empowerment.

Residents expressed hope that her new national role would translate into tangible benefits for the coastal county.

“We trust your leadership to guide Lamu toward sustainable development, economic empowerment for families, opportunities for the youth, unity among our people, and dignity and inclusion for every woman and child,” another Lamu resident said.

Waridi’s appointment comes at a time when political formations are intensifying grassroots mobilization across the country, with women and youth blocs emerging as key pillars in shaping the 2027 political landscape.
