Former prime minister Raila Odinga’s widow Ida Odinga has now relocated to their Opoda farm from Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County.

The widow had to spend four days at the ancestral cemetery after the burial of the deceased according to local traditional customs.

The deceased’s siblings who are married are at liberty to leave to join their respective families to forge ahead with their lives.

Aida was speaking after laying a wreath at the burial site and later visiting the deceased family to console with them.

Founder of Royal Media Services (RMS) Samuel Kamau Macharia  known as SK Macharia described former prime minister Raila Odinga as a person who sacrificed his time to champion for the country’s democracy.

He extended his condolence message to the bereaved family as he paid his last respects to his close friend and family.

“Raila was more of a brother than a close friend to me and his death comes as a shock to me,” he said.

The Royal Media founder said Raila was like his father, former first president Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, who had dedicated his life to the country’s freedom.

SK Macharia said as things stand today the records show Raila gave much for the country’s democracy.

Raila’s widow said SK Macharia had stood with the family through difficult times off the political arena.

Ida narrated her ordeal after being dismissed from her teaching job at Kenya High School in 1982 under President Daniel Moi.
