The race for the Nairobi City County Government Workers Union seats has gained momentum, with various candidates now ready to flex their muscles at the ballot.
The chairmanship position has attracted Antony Kimingi, Damon Onyango alias Jonah, Baraza, among other contenders.
“Mine is to ask all the workers to join hands and vote in change am team change and we shall work with everyone.”Damon said.
Baraza and Kimingi are also said to be influential with both camps anticipating of victory.
The Vice Chair position will see stiff competition between union veteran Union Stephen Ogesa, alias Stevo of Parking, and little known Kamongo of Green Army.
“Union work is not about experiencing hot blood… you must know when to squeeze and when to retreat. Employers can be difficult sometimes, but through negotiation you can always reach a consensus. I have been in this union long enough and worked hard to secure the current Collective Bargaining Agreement,” Ogesa told the workers.
Meanwhile candidates have been asked to keep off campaigns until official date is issued.
The election is slated for 17th January 2026 at City Stadium.
