The winners of the men’s and women’s Under-20 races at tomorrow’s Chepsaita Cross Country will earn a rare opportunity to attend the World Cross Country Championships, courtesy of event patron Farouk Kibet.

Kibet has pledged to sponsor both athletes to travel abroad and watch the global event, offering them first-hand exposure to world-class competition and elite training environments.

Speaking during the Presence Conference, Athletics Kenya (AK) Youth Development Director Barnaba Korir confirmed that once the winners are identified, they will be incorporated into the national World Cross Country residential camp currently underway in Embu.

Korir added that AK will support the process of securing travel documents to ensure the athletes accompany Team Kenya to Tallahassee, Florida, in January. The trip will be strictly observational, aimed at helping the young talents understand the demands of competing at the highest level.

“The intention is to give them an experience that will motivate and prepare them for future competitions,” Korir said.
