Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Imwatok has stepped up efforts to support education development in Busia County, with a focus on renovating and constructing schools in Teso North and other under-served areas.
Imwatok revealed that he has already overseen the renovation of eight schools in Teso, noting that the initiative is aimed at improving the learning environment and giving students better opportunities to succeed academically.
“Our main objective is to create a conducive learning environment for our children. Quality education begins with proper facilities, and that is why we have already renovated eight schools. Our next focus is Teso North, where several institutions are in a dilapidated condition and require urgent attention,” he said.
He emphasized that investing in education is key to empowering the community and unlocking economic and social development in Busia County.
Imwatok, who has declared interest in the Busia gubernatorial seat in 2027, called on residents to support a leadership agenda centered on service delivery, accountability, and education reforms.
“We have a clear plan to restore dignity to our people through better schools, better infrastructure, and responsible leadership. In this era, it is unacceptable for learners to study in poor conditions while leaders remain comfortable in offices earning huge salaries. Come 2027, Busia must choose servant leadership that puts the needs of the people first,” he added.
He further stated that his long-term plan is to support the construction and renovation of up to ten schools in Teso as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the education sector across Busia County.
