Leaders drawn from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have vowed to strengthen their cooperation under the broadbased government arrangement as they roll out an early plan to jointly win a majority — and ultimately all — elective seats in Nairobi ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The leaders, who addressed supporters on Friday morning during a joint rally at the NYS grounds, said unity between the two parties was key to delivering development and political stability, while also consolidating their influence in the capital.
They urged elected leaders, opinion shapers and grassroots mobilisers allied to both UDA and ODM to remain focused on the government agenda and the spirit envisioned in the working relationship between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The leaders said their target is to capture every elective position in Nairobi, including the 17 parliamentary seats, the 85 MCA seats, the gubernatorial seat, the senate seat and the woman representative seat.

MPs Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), George Aladwa (Makadara), Yusuf Hassan (Kamkunji), TJ Kajwang’ (Ruaraka), George Orero (Kibra), Ronald Karauri (Kasarani) and Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris were among the leaders present.
Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi called for unity and disciplined mobilisation, saying the city’s politics must shift from endless rivalries to issue-based leadership.
“Nairobi deserves leaders who prioritise people’s daily struggles — jobs, housing, security and services — over division. Our broadbased partnership draws strength from unity and shared purpose, and that’s what we are offering our people,” Elachi said.
Kamkunji MP Yusuf Hassan said the cooperation was anchored on practical benefits for Nairobi residents, especially the youth and small traders.
“We must show Nairobians that unity is not just a slogan — it is a strategy for development. We share a common goal to improve livelihoods, empower young people with opportunities, and secure peace and prosperity in this city,” Hassan said.
The leaders also expressed support for ongoing pre-election talks between President Ruto and ODM party leader Oburu Odinga, with Makadara MP George Aladwa insisting the party would not second-guess its purpose and intentions.
“As a party, we remain firmly committed to the broad-based arrangements aimed at fostering unity, stability, and inclusive development for our nation. This collaboration is guided by the leadership of H.E. William Samoei Ruto and our Party Leader, Dr. Oburu Odinga,” Makadara MP George Aladwa said.

Two term chants for re-election of President William Ruto dominated the event as ODM leaders warned party leaders and members undermining Dr.Oburu Odinga as the party leader
The leaders hinted that the broadbased team would soon roll out more joint activities in Nairobi and other regions, including grassroots mobilisation forums, youth empowerment programmes and coordinated development engagements.
They further revealed that a series of high-level meetings has already been planned, and that an official broadbased team that will spearhead and coordinate activities across the country will soon be unveiled as the coalition sharpens its 2027 strategy.
They maintained that their goal was not only to win seats, but also to build a strong political machine that will secure Nairobi’s leadership and guarantee continued support for the national government’s agenda beyond 2027.
