A milimani court has issued a warrant of arrest against former Java boss after he failed to appear for the mention of his criminal case.

Van Houten, a former executive linked to , had earlier been arraigned in court over allegations of obtaining KSh 7,911,000 by false pretence.

According to a statement by the , the accused is alleged to have fraudulently obtained the money from businessman between 2021 and 2022. Prosecutors claim he promised to facilitate the construction of a Java-branded hotel in , a project that reportedly never materialized.

The issuance of the warrant now paves the way for law enforcement agencies to apprehend Van Houten and present him before court to face the charges.

The development comes just days after the High Court ordered Van Houten to compensate the complainant over KSh 9 million in a related matter, further compounding his legal troubles.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by authorities to crack down on fraud and protect investors from fraudulent schemes disguised as business opportunities.

Van Houten is expected to be presented before court once arrested as proceedings in the criminal case continue.
