Makadara MP George Aladwa on Tuesday morning held a strategic engagement meeting with ODM Nairobi Women and Youth League delegates at Charter Hall, as the party steps up preparations ahead of the planned pre-coalition talks between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Aladwa said the meeting was aimed at strengthening ODM’s grassroots structures across Nairobi County, while aligning women and youth leaders on the party’s next political move as the 2027 race begins to take shape.

“We are building stronger structures, united leadership, and a clear vision for Nairobi and Kenya,” Aladwa said.

However, the Makadara legislator was categorical that ODM will not lose its identity even as it engages in cooperation talks with UDA.

He said ODM will “fight for its own space” and remain firm on its political interests, insisting that any working arrangement must respect the party’s strength and influence, particularly in Nairobi.

Aladwa further urged grassroots leaders to stay focused on popularising ODM, warning against complacency and reminding delegates that the party’s survival and growth will depend on continuous mobilisation at the community level.

He also emphasized that ODM must move beyond rhetoric and deliberately open more political space for women, arguing that the party’s future strength in Nairobi will heavily depend on empowering women leaders at both ward and constituency levels.

Aladwa said he will push for ODM to offer women more opportunities in party leadership, nominations, and elective positions, as part of a broader strategy to ensure the party delivers more elected women leaders in Nairobi and across the country.

He noted that women remain the backbone of ODM’s mobilisation machinery, and it is only fair that the party rewards that loyalty through stronger representation in decision-making and electoral contests.

Aladwa said the ODM Nairobi Women and Youth League will now intensify grassroots outreach and internal organising as the party prepares for the next phase of political engagement ahead of the coalition negotiations.
