South C MCA Abbas Khalif has stepped up his engagement in Lang’ata by holding a consultative meeting with leaders of the Gor Mahia supporters’ network drawn from across Nairobi, including representatives from the constituency.
The meeting focused on identifying new areas of partnership and collaboration, with particular emphasis on creating a structured and productive Gor Mahia fan base within Lang’ata. Khalif said the initiative aims to ensure that K’Ogalo supporters in the constituency benefit directly from youth programs and empowerment opportunities under his leadership.
“The county has immense potential to monetize local talent through sports, fan-driven initiatives, and creative programs,” Khalif said. “As leaders, we must create platforms where young people can turn their talent into income. Working with the Gor Mahia fan base gives us a ready, vibrant community that can be mobilized for development.”
His increased presence in Lang’ata comes amid speculation that he is preparing to contest the Lang’ata parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket. Sources close to his team indicate that Khalif is positioning himself strategically, a move that could alter the political landscape in the constituency.
Khalif also highlighted the ongoing Raila Odinga Memorial Tournament in Lang’ata, describing it as a unifying event and a tribute to the late former Prime Minister’s legacy. He emphasized that the tournament provides young people with a platform to showcase their talents while promoting community cohesion.
