Nairobi’s sporting and social calendar is set for an exciting weekend as international polo returns to Jamhuri Park, with Tusker Malt renewing its partnership with the Nairobi Polo Club as title sponsor of the annual Simon Kuseyo Tournament.
This year’s tournament will feature a high-profile cross-border contest pitting Kenyan players against visiting opponents from Lagos, Nigeria, in a showdown expected to attract polo enthusiasts and lifestyle lovers.
Named in honour of the late Kenyan polo legend Simon Kuseyo, the tournament combines competitive horse-riding action with outdoor leisure, fashion and hospitality, offering spectators an opportunity to experience one of the country’s premier sporting and social events.
Tusker Malt’s title sponsorship underscores the brand’s continued commitment to supporting Kenya’s lifestyle and sporting calendar while strengthening its association with the game of polo.
Speaking during the sponsorship announcement, Kenya Breweries Limited Managing Director Andrew Kilonzo said the brand and the sport shared values centred on patience, focus and strategy.
“The brand’s connection to the game is built on shared principles – the focus, patience and strategy required on the field mirror the slow brewing process behind Malt,” he said.
The tournament also pays tribute to Kuseyo, a celebrated polo player and pioneer of the sport in Kenya who rose to become a five-goal handicap player, the highest-ranked Kenyan of his era.

Throughout his career, Kuseyo competed internationally in countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Nigeria and South Africa, earning admiration for his mastery of the game and refined sportsmanship.
The tournament was established following his death in 2000 to celebrate players who perform beyond their handicap and uphold the values of excellence and integrity that defined his career.
Kilonzo invited fans to attend the tournament, describing it as an opportunity to enjoy a weekend of sport, elegance and cultural exchange.
“The Simon Kuseyo Polo Tournament is a key highlight on Kenya’s sporting and social calendar, honouring a legend who contributed immensely to the game.
“We are proud to serve as title sponsor for this international fixture. At Tusker Malt, we share a deep appreciation for craft, style and community, and we look forward to giving fans an extraordinary pitch-side experience as they cheer on the action this weekend,” he said.
Beyond its title sponsorship, Tusker Malt will enhance the spectator experience through curated hospitality offerings at the venue.
Fans can look forward to relaxed lounge setups, food pairings and signature serves, including the classic Tusker Malt Shandy.
Gates will open early on Saturday morning at the Nairobi Polo Club, with matches scheduled to continue through Sunday afternoon.
