Mountain View Ward MCA Maurice Ochieng Onyango has urged residents to reject divisive politics and remain focused on leadership that delivers development and protects their democratic space.
Onyango, who is seeking a third term on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, said residents should be cautious of political formations that he described as short-lived “waves” without a strong presence in Nairobi.
“From the ground, you can attest that we have ODM, DCP as strong parties in the city. The rest are just political waves that do not have roots,” Onyango said.
He urged Mountain View residents to support ODM, arguing that the party had continued to provide them with democratic space and development opportunities.
“For that reason, I want to urge you to stick with ODM so that you can continue enjoying your democratic space and development. I will be vying on ODM for a third term, and we must agree that your votes will be in the ODM basket,” he said.
MCA Steps Up Re-election Campaign
Onyango has intensified his engagement with residents through a series of meetings across Mountain View as he seeks to defend his seat.
The meetings have also provided an opportunity for the MCA to highlight his support for community initiatives, particularly self-help groups.
He said he had set aside resources and developed plans to ensure registered self-help groups in the ward receive support.
“I have put enough resources and plans to ensure that all registered self-help groups are supported. Today, we have met some and extended that assistance,” he said.
Onyango said his continued engagement with residents was part of his efforts to strengthen community development while building support ahead of his bid for a third term.
