The National Police Service has issued an update on its ongoing recruitment exercise, correcting earlier errors and expanding eligibility to include former members of the National Youth Service (NYS).

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, in a statement released on Friday, November 7, said the adjustments were necessary to ensure fairness and inclusivity after some details were omitted in the initial announcement published on November 4.

According to Kanja, the revised directive now allows not only current NYS trainees but also former service members to take part in the recruitment drive. He advised former NYS candidates to report for consideration either at their respective home sub-county recruitment centres or at the NYS headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi County.

At the same time, the police chief announced several corrections to previously listed recruitment venues. The exercise in Kajiado West Sub-County will now be held at Ole Polos Centre, while in Elangata Wuas and Narok West sub-counties, the venues have been moved to the Deputy County Commissioner’s office and Ng’osuani Centre, respectively.

Kanja emphasized that all other details from the earlier notice   including the recruitment date  remain unchanged.

He further reminded interested applicants that the official application form is available for download on the National Police Service website. Candidates are required to submit the duly filled forms in person at their designated centres, accompanied by original and photocopies of their national identification card and academic certificates.

To qualify, applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, possess a valid national ID, and have at least a D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). Male applicants must have a minimum height of five feet eight inches, while female applicants should measure at least five feet three inches. Both genders must be physically and medically fit, and free of any criminal record.

The Inspector General reiterated that the recruitment process is entirely free of charge and warned against any attempts to solicit or offer bribes.

“Anyone found engaging in corruption or presenting false information to the recruitment teams will face prosecution,” Kanja cautioned.

The nationwide recruitment seeks to bolster the police service with new officers as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations across the country.
