Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi on Tuesday led a humanitarian relief exercise to support families affected by recent flooding in the constituency, distributing essential supplies including food, mattresses, and blankets.

The assistance targeted vulnerable households whose homes were damaged following heavy rains that have been pounding several parts of Nairobi in recent days, leaving many residents displaced and in urgent need of basic necessities.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Elachi expressed gratitude to the national government for responding swiftly to the crisis and supporting affected families.

“We sincerely thank the government for stepping in quickly to provide urgent assistance to our people during this difficult time,” she said.

The legislator also called on residents of Dagoretti North to continue supporting one another as the rainy season persists, emphasizing the importance of community solidarity in times of hardship.

“As we continue to experience the rainy season, I urge everyone in Dagoretti North to look out for one another and extend a helping hand wherever possible. Let us stand together as a community and be our brother’s keeper,” she added.

Several parts of the constituency have experienced localized flooding due to ongoing rains, with some homes and infrastructure affected.

Elachi reassured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure that families impacted by the floods receive the necessary support as authorities continue monitoring the situation.
Her message to residents was simple but powerful: “Tujali wenzetu” — a call for compassion, unity, and collective responsibility within the community.

The relief effort forms part of broader interventions aimed at cushioning residents from the effects of the ongoing rains while strengthening community resilience in flood-prone areas.
